PostMint is a small iPhone app built by an independent developer. It helps you turn photos into social media captions without collecting your identity, tracking your behavior, or keeping your photos. This policy explains, in detail, how that works.
1. Introduction
PostMint ("we," "us") is an iOS application that uses an artificial intelligence service to generate social media captions from photos you select. This privacy policy applies to the PostMint iPhone app and this marketing website. We wrote it to comply with Apple's App Store Review Guideline 5.1.2(i) on AI-processed data — and because we believe you deserve a clear explanation.
2. Data we collect and why
Photos you choose to process
When you tap Generate, the photos you selected (one to three per generation) are transmitted over HTTPS to our AI provider, AIML API, for a single caption-generation request. Here is what happens to them:
- Not stored by us. PostMint does not operate a server. We never see your photos, never log them, and have no database to store them in.
- Not stored by AIML. Per AIML API's published terms, inputs are used to fulfill the request and are not retained afterward.
- Not used for training. AIML API explicitly does not use customer inputs to train or fine-tune any AI model.
- Not linked to your Apple ID. We do not send your name, email, Apple ID, or any identifier alongside the photo.
You'll see a consent screen before your first generation explaining this, and you can opt out of AI features any time in Settings (note: without AI features, PostMint cannot generate captions, which is most of the app).
Onboarding preferences
During onboarding, PostMint asks you about your content categories (e.g. food, fitness, small business), tone of voice, primary pain point, and goals. These answers are:
- Stored locally on your device via Apple's SwiftData framework.
- Shared between the main app and the Share Extension via an App Group UserDefaults container (still on your device — an App Group does not leave your phone).
- Sent as text alongside caption requests so the AI can tune output to your voice.
Caption history (Pro users only)
If you subscribe to PostMint Pro, your caption history syncs via Apple's CloudKit private database to your own iCloud account. Apple stores this; we never see it server-side. You can delete individual entries or the entire history at any time.
Subscription status
Subscription purchases and renewals are handled by Apple's App Store via RevenueCat, which is our subscription infrastructure provider. We receive only an anonymized subscription state (for example, "user has active Pro entitlement") — never your name, email, card details, or purchase history.
Device diagnostics (optional, Apple-managed)
If you have "Share with App Developers" enabled in iOS Settings, Apple may share aggregated crash logs with us. We do not operate any custom analytics SDK, no Firebase, no Amplitude, no Mixpanel, no Plausible, no Fathom, nothing.
3. What we do not collect
- No analytics SDKs.
- No advertising networks.
- No third-party trackers.
- No custom user accounts or identifiers.
- No server-side logs — because we do not operate a server.
- No location data.
- No contacts, calendars, microphone, or camera access.
4. Third parties
AIML API
Our AI provider. AIML API is an OpenAI-compatible AI service. It receives your photos and text prompts, processes them for a single request, and returns generated captions. AIML does not retain inputs or use them for training per their published terms. Read their full policy at aimlapi.com/privacy.
Apple App Store & RevenueCat
Apple handles your payment and billing directly. We use RevenueCat as an intermediary to validate your subscription entitlement. Neither we nor RevenueCat sees your payment information — Apple retains that exclusively.
Apple CloudKit
For Pro subscribers, caption history is stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit private database. We do not have access to this data — only you and Apple do. Deleting PostMint or signing out of iCloud will remove this sync.
5. Your rights and choices
- Delete your data. Open Settings inside PostMint and tap "Reset all data." This removes your local onboarding preferences, caption history, and any cached state from your device.
- Opt out of AI features. Turn off "AI features" in Settings at any time. No further generation requests will be sent.
- Request your data. Email us at votiquellc@gmail.com. In practice, we have no server-side data to provide — the data we "have" about you is the data on your device, which you already have.
- Delete PostMint entirely. Uninstalling the app removes all on-device data. Your iCloud sync (if any) can be cleared from iCloud Settings → Manage Storage → PostMint.
6. Children's privacy
PostMint is rated 4+ and intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used PostMint in a way that resulted in their personal information being processed, contact us at votiquellc@gmail.com and we will promptly assist.
7. Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. Substantive changes — ones that affect what data we collect or how we handle it — will also be announced in-app before they take effect.
